Introduction to PEO,PO,CO

Introduction to PEO,PO,CO 1. Vision, Mission, and Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) Vision and Mission Statements: The Vision and Mission statements outline long-term aspirations and the core purpose of the institution. In this regard, the Vision defines the institution's desired future, while the Mission articulates the fundamental activities that must be undertaken to realize this vision. A technical university, for instance, would have a Vision such as "be a global leader in engineering education and research" with a Mission to "provide quality technical education and contribute to solving societal challenges." Program Vision and Mission: All programs under the institution are aligned with the overarching Vision and Mission. Thus, for instance, a Computer Science program would have its own Vision to "excel in software innovation and digital transformation." Program Educational Objectives (PEOs): PEOs are broad statements that describe what gradu...

Designing an Engineering Curriculum Aligned with Bloom's Taxonomy for Holistic Learning

Designing an Engineering Curriculum Aligned with Bloom's Taxonomy for Holistic Learning   I)  Defining Learning Outcomes   Defining learning outcomes is very important in designing an effective syllabus. Learning outcomes clearly state what students ought to know, do, and value at the end of a course. These outcomes, categorized into six cognitive levels as outlined in Bloom's Taxonomy, include Knowledge, Comprehension, Application, Analysis, Synthesis, and Evaluation. Each level will be able to build upon the previous one, moving the students from foundational understanding to higher-order thinking.   Engineering learning outcomes should embrace both theoretical and practical learning aspects. In the case of the Knowledge level, they should be able to memorize the principles of engineering or explain a technical term. For Application, students can solve an application type of an engineering problem; for the Evaluation level, they would be required to criticiz...
